Bali Frieze
John,
I can only reply based on my experience, Cemstick is what I have had handy,
but any PVA glue such as Aquadhere should be OK. Maybe you will need to
dilute it with water to make it a bit runny, the dust and sand will dry a
thick glue too fast.
You could send me a photo, but it may not show what I would be looking for-
the colour and size of individual grains in the material, and the colour of
the cementing material. These are what should be matched for an invisible
repair.
Most natural stone has a variation in its colour, so work on a small area at
a time and prepare each small batch of filler differently, otherwise the
cracks will stand out as a consistent colour.
Can you try a sample repair on the back of the piece? Maybe you could test a
patch on the drill holes - or experiment with different fine sands if you
don't want to scavenge from the sculpted piece.
Simon
