Taphonomy
Hello n,
If you find words like this interesting, you must be almost as weird as I
am. Almost... keep trying!
Taphonomy is a new one to me, but I found something about it here:

'Diagenesis' is mentioned at the site linked above- this also describes the
metamorphic process that some natural stone undergoes.
