Clarification: I meant in the previous message to say that Koons (not in
stone) & Finlay (often in stone) show quite different ways in which the
artist functions who conceives & commissions handmade objects in
contemporary art (to be made by others). The effects of these arrangements
seem very positive both for the working stonemason (work, kudos, even
learning), & the *(usually significant) artist, who is almost invariably the
senior partner .It becomes a bit problematic when the maker/carver does not
receive acknowledgement: it's a complex question. Anyway, I didn't mean to
suggest a negative contrast, only a comparison of approach. Ian
