Subject: more dust collection

I have tried fog misters to control dust directly, but they just make
everything muddy!

Maybe this could be a different solution to the problem of dust venting into
the air:

I have a sandblast booth (8' long, 4' wide and 8' tall, just sheets of
compressed AC fastened to a corner of the open room) set up in the workshop
with a simple dust extractor fan set into the roof.

The stones are loaded through a door at the side, and the blast hose poked
through a slot in the front, under some viewing windows.

The exhaust fan removes the finer dust and leaves the coarser particles to
settle to the floor, where they are picked up by shovel and reloaded into
the blast pot.

The dust is ducted to the outside of the workshop and directed downwards
through a set of fine mist water sprays which catch all of the dust. The
excess water falls into a wash trough and spills over into a storm water
drain. The sediment settles from the water into the trough to be scooped up
and disposed of.

This is a good system for washing the dust from the air, although it wastes
water. I don't think that a water recirculation set up would work without
good quality filtration to avoid the mist jets being blocked.
