sculptural preferences
Norman,
If by monumental pieces you mean monuments, I can tell you why I am leaning
that way. I find the architectural side of carving, including lettering, a
great way to let out some creativity, but with a very clear process. I
always wanted to be an architect. Never did it. I did go to art school for a
year, but then never pursued it any further. I did eventually bring my
computer work together with my art world as a graphic designer, but
eventually that became more about the computer than the design. My "split"
personality of being very creative, yet needing order is what brought me to
architectural carving. But I must say that I can't wait to do my first truly
free artistic carving... so much to do...
