Talking about sizes and scale I believe the relation to the viewer's own
size is the decisive element in this discussion. Viewer meaning artist as
well in the process of making. I am currently working on a female torso
referring to prehistoric designs. (As in the Venus of Wilendorf etc) These
were usually made not taller than say 10 inches, which is something you
possess. Anything, which is (Weightwise?) approximately your equal stands as
your equal, you have to answer to it on a one to one basis. Anything larger
than that has a certain inherent superiority over the viewer (or so it feels
to me) and feeds any inferiority complexes within the viewer.

This is not to say, that I have found a key to understanding scale within
your work, but thoughts that come to pass carving something larger than a
presumed inherent size.

Enjoy the dust and keep carving
Richard
