Subject: wandering off down an alleyway - gloves

Having hit my hand yet again, and having seen the sticky mits the rugby
players use, I thought I'd look at gloves. I was always taught not to use
gloves when using tools - but that probably only applies to big ill-fitting
gloves that increase the risk of throwing a tool. I've used ordinary
fingerless gloves when doing fiddly field work (I'm a zoologist by training)
and it certainly helps to keep some sensation in the fingers in the biting
cold. Bit of a long pre-amble but - looking through the literature it seems
the jury is still out on the use of vibration reducing gloves - the HSE are
very cautious and suggest it's the warmth rather than the padding that helps
keep the hands from harm. Out of curiosity, do any of you use gloves? I'm
inclined to get some more robust fingerless gloves just to keep my hands
warm - I only use hand tools anyway and never get long enough to hit stone
to do any harm.
