I don't think there is any danger from vibration with hand tools.
Machines do that. Up home wood cutters can get "white hand" from chain
saws, especially if they are not vibration dampened.
As for robust leather gloves, look at a sporting goods outfitter for
the fingerless leather gloves used by "big-wall" (huge vertical cliffs)
climbers who use them to their protect hands from both stone and
hammers when they drive in pitons. I find they work well for minimizing
hammer damage to the hand, mostly the top of my first thumb joint.
