Subject: care and feeding of angle grinders

Does anyone have good experience with their care of angle grinders. I have
for several years cleaned them with an air hose after use. I've had no
problems generally but recently my 9" started to make some noises. It may
be just wearing out; I got it second hand.

However this did make me question the wisdom of blowing the dust from the
grinder. I point the air nozzle into the grinder housing to clear as much
dust as I can. Do others follow this practice or am I simply pushing the
dirt farther in.

I have not as yet opened the housing to re-grease the drive or oil the motor
bearings. does anyone have a suggestion here; or is it simply better (tho
more expensive ) to have a tool repair company maintain the grinder?

Thanks for any thought on this one.
