Hi Bill,

I use clay for abstract pieces and plaster casts of clay models for
realistic pieces. The clay ones are just to get a quick idea of how
silhouettes and surfaces relate and are temporary; plaster casts can be
handled more roughly and last a lot longer.

I paint my plaster maquettes to tone back the deathly white colour- s'pose
you could tint the plaster just as well.

Simon
