Bill, (How many Bills are here? This is beginning to get confusing.)
I use a regular pottery style clay I ordered from Dick Blick. I keep it
moist and reuse it. I do have to resist the temptation to use an additive
technique for my model that I won't be able to use on the stone. Sometimes
I press a lump of clay into a shape roughly similar to the stone I'm
starting on, then carve it down with clay hand tools. Plasteline would
probably work just as well, but I haven't tried it.
