slate and ?
Robin,
I'm looking for black slate, 30" x 30" x 3/4", honed one side. Reason
is, I want to make a sundial for a friend. I've carved in wood and
stone, but have no experience lettering in stone, well very little. So
I need to practice. I can get practice pieces locally and the price of
$180 for the slab above (not for practice!) was also from a local stone
dealer. As Walter Arnold pointed out, that is in fact a good price so I
will go with it. I priced around, including a couple of places in VT,
but the local stone dealer has the best price. I was just surprised
that the longer I shopped around the higher the price got, until it was
pretty amazing.
