Robin,
Dummy question here. Your prospective stone is 7800 lbs, is it about
round, and how big is that, about 5 ft diameter? How would you actually
get it home,
Norman,
I am lucky enough to live in a small town with no shortage of guys in every
field imaginable all wanting to help !! The marble yard ( which is 10
minutes away ) will put in on anything I bring in so a friend has offered
one of his semi trucks to haul it home for me. Another friend has offered
his wrecker that is used for semi trucks.......However it gets here and
unloaded it will certainly end up a 'community project' I'm sure !! I'm
even thinking I would have to work on it on the semi trailer long before it
is unloaded as it would need the base end leveled and the 20 years of crude
and corruption scraped off of it. By then I would know for sure which
direction the bands were going and which way I would want it set up. That's
the scene as it plays out in my head, anyway........
This particular stone is approx 3' x 4' x 5' and is a rectangle. I would
stand it on one small end so it would be 5' tall. it's about 60 cu ft. My
dream is to put it in front of my studio where I would carve it and leave it
there. That is if Bill Knight doesn't get it first !!
