Robin,
What a joyful contention we have going! I think you're
ahead of me though. I had imagined a horizontal piece,
but you might be right. Don't they say never to wear
horizontal stripes? Did the stone suggest the sculpture
to you, or was it the other way around?
And do not worry I don't feel I have any claim on any of
those blocks, though I do wonder if Mr. Ward shot you a
price that was any different from his flat rate. You
know, as I think back on it, maybe you didn't want to tour
the yard with us because you needed to be alone with Mr.
Ward, to have private conversation about your secret
desires. Actually there is another stone that I envisaged
more vividly as sculpture, but I've got to buy a bigger
truck or something, and anyway I certainly wouldn't tell
you about it, you stone stealer. And the way you're
talking it up, the whole world might as well know; there
is some very interesting stone in Carthage Missouri. I've
also learned it's the home of the fellow who paints the
pictures of dogs playing poker, which might be worth the
trip itself for he does outdoor sculpture as well, alot of
which is on display. And you can also eat a steak and
watch a rodeo event! At the same time! Indoors!
