Bill,
If one only needs to move large pieces once or twice a year, then hire
someone with the right equipment and experience to do the work for you. That
way you don't have to worry with all the legal hassles, and maintenance work
that goes along with operating a large truck. Its good to have a working
relationship with an owner-operator. Once they know that you pay your
bills and know what you are talking about, they can be extremely helpful .
You need to be on the ground directing traffic.
If I was bringing in a 1000 lb. block, I'd hire someone with a hydraulic
overhead crane on the truck. Then the stone can be put exactly where I want.
One vote for hiring.
