Stone handling and transport: hire or own?
I am all for a crane as well! The operators don't stand around
scratching their heads about how to secure it...move it et. They simply go
about their business with confidence. I love to watch pieces be gently and
securely lifted onto the truck, then set down gently and precisely at the
other end.
I have gone the other route with trucks, front end loaders, bobcats and
pulleys with rollers. The jobs were done awkwardly, with the fear of some
one getting hurt or the stone being damaged. It also took much longer to
move the stone...some times a week!
My vote goes to the crane truck and operator. I have watched three tons
of stone being picked up as easily and gently as if it were a baby. Elle
