Subject: sawing

I have one, looks like a carpenters rip saw.
Made by Sandvik (model 225), 27" blade, 1/2" deep carbide tipped teeth set
about 1" apart. It's good for Texas cream or other very soft limestones,
but relatively useless in anything harder.

I also have a carbide impregnated hack saw blade, I mounted it in a wooden
handle, but that's for short cuts.

Prior to the early to mid 1800's (advent of steam driven tools) sawing was
mostly done by hand, I've seen medieval illustrations of two man saws maybe
6 or 8' long. Probably took days to cut a block of marble.
