I'll second Tom's opinion as to Makita tools lasting when used
on stone, although like everything else, quality in newer
versions is not up to what was available 10 years ago. Seems
like things suffer when a contract with one of the big box
stores is arraigned. As for the hammer drill, look into one of
the smaller Bosch bulldogs like the 11230evs, or the 11250vsr.
Good tools with chisel bits available. Be aware, though that in
addition to Simon's comment about the weight , that it is much
more difficult to control the chiseling action of a hammer drill
compared to a pneumatic carving hammer.
