Electric Tools
Hi All,
I have quite a selection of both air and electric and don't have to worry
about noise. Nothing makes more noise than the big electric grinders!
My real contribution to this discussion concerns cheap or expensive. I hold
the view that is does not seem to matter how much you spend on some kinds of
tools because they all give up the ghost quicker than you feel they should
with the exception of top quality air hammers and maybe electric grinders.
So I count almost everything else as expendable and buy very cheap and just
throw them away.
Some of these last for ever, a real bonus, most interesting case of this is
a very cheap Ryobi variable speed sander-grinder at least 1/4 the price of a
professional tool and works beautifully.
Stone kills most things.
Another interesting fact, since there are so many wonderful sanding products
for wood and steel/metal it seemed a shame not to try to use some of them on
marble, I found that by using them at very slow speeds they do a very good
job indeed. Unfortunately not many of the air die grinder type products have
any torque at low speed. Although they are bit clumsy to use by comparison
electric variable speed drills can do a fantastic job.
So few things seem to be made specifically for stone that I reckon its
always worth experimenting. For example: I use a very cheap air needle gun
as a light frosting or bushing tool.
