sawing, the sequel
Hi,
Quoted text begins."Just heard from Crawshaws, in England, about that straight carbide hand
saw I was after."
End of quote.
Before anyone goes out and has a large carbide hand saw made for them I
think it would prudent to see if they have the patience and stamina to cut
through the biggest lump of stone that one of the off-the-shelf hand saws
will go through because if they haven't they wont get very far with a really
big one.
My powered diamond saw, previously mentioned, only makes less than 0.5 mm
progress per stroke of the blade, possibly 1 second per stroke, its very
slow, so what's that, 600 strokes roughly to cut one foot, taking about 1
hr.
If you think you can keep going at that kind of pace you're much better than
me!!!
I would always go for diamonds over carbide for this kind of job, you would
probably find that the largest possible grit size will be best.
