sawing, the sequel
Clive,
I'd love to go for diamonds, but there isn't such a beast, as far as I
can tell. I don't have access to a big diamond circular saw, in the
15-30" range, and I live out in the country, so there aren't any fab
shops within a half day's drive that might have such a saw - one that
would produce a smooth cut (or not even smooth, just predictable) on a 5
ft x 2 ft x 6 in slab. Gas-powered concrete saws, easily rented, only
have a 5 or 6 inch cutting depth, even with a 14 inch blade. So, I
thought I'd be a mensch, and gut it out with a hand saw after cutting as
deep as my 9" blade would go, get a lot of exercise with it, sweat off
about 10 lbs, and someday end up with the stone I need for this piece.
But then, I'm always searching for the hard way to do things, it seems
If you've got a better idea, I'd love to hear it. Please.
Bill
