Yes Bill,

Kevin does have something there and I have thought of
doing so(drilling lots of hole and splitting) my self. I
figured I would have to make a jig to guide my drill to
keep the drilling in the same plane. Then split. But it
would be alot of wedges and shims, but then you probably
needn't wedge every hole.

In reply.

If accuracy is important. Scribe a line and apply marks to drill the holes.
Get a friend to help by using a small square placed upon the face of the
stone. As the drill goes down, the square will make sure that the bit
produces a vertical hole. Do not hold the square in one position, move it
round the bit so your vertical is in more than one plane. Ie. you may be
square in one position but not in another.

Also for safety make sure that the person holding the square is out of the
way of the drill just incase it jams and spins out of control. Ie. Head
lower then the drills handle.

If the stone is not flat. the second person could help by eyeing the drill
through vertically.
