OK, I'll just crawl back under my rock now that I know GFI means Ground
Fault Interrupter!
In my little corner of the world we call it either a Safety Pack, RCD
(Residual Current Device) or ELCB (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker).
There is much debate in my classes over the use of water-fed electrical
tools, favoured by newer stone companies who don't have money to invest in
air tool systems.
I'll admit they are handy for small-scale or on-site work where a large
volume of compressed air is not available, but these tools are dangerous
(and heavy) to use long term because of the increased risk of electric
shock- GFI or no.
I bought a cheap 5" air sander and fitted a diamond blade to it- it runs
well powered by a 7-8 cfm compressor. I brazed a hose fitting to the guard
so I can plug a garden hose into it and run it wet. I previously mentioned
seeing others hold a wet sponge against the blade, this is OK for electric
grinders because there is very little water spray produced, just enough to
dampen the dust. Should always use a safety pack though, regardless.
