Diamond Hand Pads
Hi Deb. How fine of a surface you can get on a limestone realy
depends on the stone. I am not familiar with your local stones,
but I can tell you that with one of my local stones going beyond
80 or 120 grit is nonsense, while another will actually change
color and develop a warm glow at around 1200 grit. Generally
speaking, soft, chalky or porous limestones will not polish, and
trying to sand much beyond the grain size of the stone does not
accomplish much. Hard, compacted or crystalline limestone on
the other hand are good canidates for polished surfaces.
If you are going to get the diamond hand pads, get the full set.
But trust me, the wet dry paper from the auto shop or hardware
store is just as effective on limestone.
Good luck,
