Carving with torches
Interestingly, just recently I was imagining "inverse sculptures" and
wondering if anyone had ever made them, by that I mean seriously hollowed
out stones with the worked surfaces and detail on the inside, maybe things
you can step into, or better, just barely fit into (you could work with the
claustrophobic embryonic feeling), but how to light it? Maybe one could work
close enough to the surface of the stone (carefully!) so that light
penetrates in so that one could experience the "inner life of stones". Can't
imagine the unpleasant labor making the things though, unless one used
halves or sections, or slices, etc.
