Carbide riffers
In my opinion, they are carbide riffers are tools that can be used for a
long time, and yes, I would put out the money. They come in different
grades or roughness, it comes down to how and where you want to use them. I
use them along with hand tools on smaller pieces. You would be working a
long time to shape a large work with rifers....unless you are working on
detail.
I have a "concrete dressing stone". It is black, and the size of half a
brick. I can't remember what is in its grit. It works well in the early
stages of smoothing down a surface. In some cases another hard rough stone,
will do the same. I hope that this helps. I don't have stacks of money
laying around for tools, either. One last comment....occassionally, I have
rediscovered a tool, that previously I had though useless. Which indicates
to me that I still have much to learn. Elaine
