Flint knapping
Simon,
Making the flint for flintlock muskets was a major industry in the US, and
most of the flint comes from sedimentary stone. It sure makes sense that in
the process of freeing the flint, a lot of usable building stone would be
made.
I've always been facinated by flint arrowheads. The knapping leaves a great
textured finish.
