Hi George,
I set up my grinding and polishing kit so that everything fits an M14 thread, that is,
mild steel, 14mm. All of my heads fit my 5", 7" and 9" grinders, wet and dry.
I always used the coarse diamond followed by wet stones, then discovered that
the fine diamond head took out coarse diamond scratches really quickly. The fine
diamond between coarse diamond and wet stones makes the work so much
easier.
