Thanks Simon, I look forward to seeing the pics. Norman has also reminded me
of my manners and the fact that I haven't properly introduced myself.

I live in mid-coast Maine on the Damariscotta river, first cove on the left,
in the town of Boothbay. As anyone who has been to Maine can tell you, two
things we have lots of are trees and rocks.

Most of you already know for 40 hours per week I'm currently a shipfitter in
a local shipyard who supplies the navy with Aegis destroyers. Most of my
life my primary income has been thru metalworking, machining, and fab work to
include welding.

My brother Bill, who has a PHD in vulcanology, has made good use of my
talents to make tools for him for his turning and stonework. Along the way I
picked up my own passion for wood and stone. To LOML it seems like less of a
passion and more of a curse when she looks out her window and sees the
latest pile of stone or wood burls to arrive in the driveway. As long as I
keep the gardens properly walled in and decorated and the kitchen stocked
with exotic wood treen peace prevails in our little section of Maine.

My latest attempt to dispose of excess creativity is a local artisan's co-op
where I'm the resident turner. Recent arm/shoulder surgery has cut bothmy
hammer swinging and woodturning to a frustratingly low level. After
conversing with the lead stone dog I came up with an idea for this turning
granite thing. It's low impact on my end and he can do the hammerswinging
part till I heal up.Nothing like collaboration to send your work in a new
direction.

Sure do wish the rain would let up here so I could get back to my favorite
physical therapy. SWMBO wants yet another dry stack retainer wall in the
gardens.I managed to finish the granite steps she wanted before the monsoon
season started alittle over 2 weeks ago. Living on granite ledge has it's
problems, but the view sure is nice.

Mainely,Bob
