Treating Limestone
Of course keeping limestone dry will keep it from both moss and Lichens
which is the dark gray color moss that gets on all outside stone after
a few years. One can also paint on the stone with ,Im now using
Thompsons Water seal, purchased at hardware store , i get 5 gal can.
one coat lasts about 2 years then you hav e to pain t it again. I have
150--garden sized limestone works in my sculpture garden , starting in
1974 as full time scuptor and 90% of these are dark with Lichen(dont
know if im spelling it right). This can be sanded off if a customer
wants it clear stone then using the cement seal will help keep it
clear. I have also used a silican sol, ution that works for a few years,
but i just forget and dontkeep up with keeping my stones pristine
