aesthetics
Clive complained that few were chiming in to the aesthetics discussion.
I am one that strives to make aesthetic pieces. That is really all I
have been focusing upon. Sometimes I feel like I am unsophisticated
because I am not trying to tell a story in my stone or not trying to
develop a hidden message. But I don't do sculpture to tell stories. I
want to make a form that is pleasing to my eye - that is my sole
criteria.
An acquaintance of mine does very complicated abstract pieces that have
elaborate stories behind them. In general I think he tries too hard.
His story-less pieces are often so much stronger in my mind, probably
because of their simplicity.
