aesthetics
Right on John!
I don't beleive that realist or abstract sculpture is better than the
other. When a sculpture or piece of art is excellent, it touches something
in the viewers soul. While this sounds whisy-washy, it is every bit as true
that two musicians can play the same tune....one can irritate you, while the
other can touch your heart. The message may be horrifying as in Picaso's
"Gurernica", or awsome as in Michelanglo's "David". Aesthetics:
proportion, balance, texture, finish, rythm....they are the "art" in "art".
That is why the uninitiated, can tell automatically when something does not
look right. I believe that good craftmanship = good aesthetics.....the
skillful use of aesthetics puts soul into the work. Elaine
