aesthetics
Having spent a few years in graduate school in the design field I agree with
both perspectives.
Much of the art one produces in school can be dominated by the agenda of a
faculty member but also art is all about communication and everything is
designed. My spouse, a civil engineer, thinks that all concept discourse is
BS but his lens is that of function provider. Mine is that of the artist.
