Pointing machine
Hi Danny,
I think you are asking about the pointing machine, otherwise known as a
'Skopas' (or Scopas) named after the Greek sculptor (360 B.C.)
Walter Arnold has a good description here:
http://stonecarver.com/carvtool.html
Artlex art dictionary gives a brief definition:
http://www.artlex.com/ArtLex/Pm.html
And a more exhaustive description of the process here:
http://2.1911encyclopedia.org/S/SC/SCULPTURE.htm
Does anyone have clues about the term 'Mezzo Punto'? I think it refers to
the scaling up of measurements from the maquette to the sculpture.
Simon
