Maybe that's what those hair-raising goosebumps are, as not everyone
will experience them in response to the same works you will.
But I agree, more explicit value judgments by the artist are necessary,
much harsher than the viewer could ever impose. How much more explicit?
Conscious, or stream-of-consciousness? Hopefully those value judgments
are being applied moment to moment, as the work goes on. OK, so I'm
basically a Jungian. I admit it!
It's funny, I do that same checklist thing when something captures my
attention.
