The Original Question
Bill wrote and I've added
B...Maybe that's what those hair-raising goosebumps are, as not everyone
will experience them in response to the same works you will.
C...That's what so interesting, I think its more common in music and I bet
someone knows which cords or notes can do it better than others but in
art................
B...But I agree, more explicit value judgments by the artist are necessary,
much harsher than the viewer could ever impose. How much more explicit?
Conscious, or stream-of-consciousness? Hopefully those value judgments
are being applied moment to moment, as the work goes on. OK, so I'm
basically a Jungian. I admit it!
C...I reckon in can be both Conscious and unconscious at the same time + any
other test that finds it way in for some reason or other, I also think that
those words "basically a Jungian" are very helpful Jung almost always seems
to have hit the nail on the head, stays relevant and very conveniently
allows for us to place almost any other layer on his.
I'm also not sure that its the exclusive domain of artists though I do know
that we are capable of doing it 'til we destroy what ever we make!!!!!!!!!
B...It's funny, I do that same checklist thing when something captures my
attention.
C...The first time I came across it was written by Prof Richard Wolheim, it
really rang bells for me as I knew instantly that I did it, I think he was
making the claim that almost everybody does it, I sensed that he may be
right but wondered how many people would admit to it.
