Stone Mark-up
Bill,
After you add up the cost of shipping and handeling, and estimate your
personal time spent on just handeling, and add that to the cost of the
stone, marking up the cost 10 % is not unreasonable. One way or another you
have to figure in the hidden cost of your time spent. I'm sure a hardeaded
business man would mark up a stone 50% . I don't know of an industry
standard. Its more about knowing your own expences, and making them up
somewhere. Take a long look at a deadline contract and know what you are
signing. Good luck. The things we do for money!
George
Quoted text begins.and I am wondering if there is an "industry standard"
mark-up the the carver adds to his price for the quarry
stone. It seems a mark-up might be in order given the
exposure the carver takes that the stone may have faults
that could undermine the carving or even require that he
purchase at his own expense a second stone.
End of quote.
