Hap I found this places in North Carolina, Not Virginia. The last link is a
place where they sell the pink soapstone...hope it helps

Pineville Quarry, Pineville, Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina, USA
Ref.: Rocks & Min.: 60:96. A quarry located in southern Mecklenburg Co.,
near the South Carolina line. Rock is gabbro and metagabbro.
