Thanks Norman,
I have seen the Peruvian Stonework, and that is something I wish I had the
time to do. It's beautiful. I have read a lot of the probable methods
used, and that just makes me sit down and shake my head. So much labor and
hours grinding and setting those monstrous stones. I have trouble hand
setting stones that are over 300 pounds these days. I am really terrible
about taking pictures, but if you stay on my back I can share pictures and
methods of building these rustic kind of walls. Compared to what you folks
do, my work is very primitive, but I'm enjoying the archives and the current
mailings. If you are into Granite Buildings I can look for the link to
pictures of the Shaker "Great Stone Dwelling" in Enfield, NH. Most of the
cut granite blocks that I use are from that same quarry, but field stone
is... after all... field stone. I live in an area that not only has a lot
of granite, but has several Mica/Isinglass mines that have been closed for
decades. There are a lot of phosphate deposits in the area as well.
