There's a type of alloy that machinists use for jigging odd shaped parts
to work them.It melts in boiling water and has next to no shrinkage as it
cools.It seems this would be a much better alternative than lead as there
are no health problems.You could just melt,pour and work the stuff instead
of having to pound it out to make up for shrinkage.
I don't recall the name of it off hand but if there's an interest I'll
dust off the library and see if I can find a source.I remember seeing a
reference to it in Home Shop Machinist afew years back.
