Setting up a mobile letter-cutting rig
Dear Shannon,
Because of the size of many of my sculptures I sometimes have to use a
portable sandbaster, never half as effective as the monsters they use for
metal cleaning prior to powder coating.
Even with my small gear the amount of sand that is left on the ground is
quite alarming. It OK around my workshop but I'd reckon that your potential
clients wouldn't like such a mess.
Here in Australia we are not allowed to use hard sand for blasting anymore,
Silica, not good for the lungs, so all sort of other things like garnet are
used. frighteningly expensive by comparison with sand. I'd say clean-up and
public health risk (not to mention being sued) are the two big issues that
you have to overcome before investing in a truck etc.
Good luck Clive
