here in the uk there is a company which supplies a mobile blast unit for
towing behind a car/van

I agree that training is very important but mostly in laying out a good
inscription. Learn to cut by
hand first or you will never fully master the craft which then can become
art.
MOBILE BLASTING CAN BE HORRIBLY MESSY.
There are dustless machines available from the same company.
a good lettercutter with a few chisels has a much more pleasant day (if the
client will pay a fair price)
but in the uk he would have to finish 100+ letters a day( 300+ a day I have
heard of).
