Sandblasting vs. lettercutting by hand
----- Original Message -----
Quoted text begins.Do you know of anyone who carves letters
in granite by hand routinely?
End of quote.
Sure do. A young lady named Maureen Thompson does just this
sort of thing. Not only granite, but also many other stones.
She use to participate on this forum, but since having a baby to
care for, she has removed herself from the list. If I am not
mistaken she apprenticed with a master in Rhode Island, and I
believe if you go back into the list archives, you will find
several postings from her about this very topic.
It is a shame that the modern US cemetaries are going to the
flat on the ground plack. There is something missing when
memorials are all the same and do not reflect the uniquness of
those they memorialize. What a world we live in.
