Shannon,

I, too, love wandering around old cemetaries ! I was lucky enough to get to
go to St. Augustine, Fl to visit some of the oldest cemetaries in the US.
As for only granite headstones.....here in SW Missouri limestone is
acceptable, at least in some of our local, older cemetaries. The headstone
I did was out of Indiana limestone. The fellow in charge of the cemetary
was SO excited when I contacted him in regards to setting the stone. He
figured there hadn't been a hand cut stone placed there in almost 75 years.
Mine really does stick out as it is surrounded by a lot of shiny, rectangle,
pink granite headstones..... In regards to the mowers....I set the stone on
a hand pitched, limestone base that was then set on a large limestone slab.
The large slab takes all the mower brutalities.....this was allowed due to
being 2 plots instead of a single one. BTW where are you in these
midwestern states ? I happen to know a fabulous carver here and he does
lettering.....and he's a great mentor and tutor.......

Craig,

No Stone Unturned seemed very appropreiate for me as I tend to flip my
stones all around and circle madly all the while trying to figure out
exactly where and how to start each project ! I have purchased the domain
name nostoneunturned.us and want to get that going soon. I have just
finished 5 new pieces for a local show and hope to get those photos 'out
there' !!
