Quoted text begins.You know.
Anyone who did might be hearing from the Centre for the Retention of
Architectural and Stone Secrets (CRASS) , who have their administrative
headquarters in the crypt of Rosslin Chapel in Scotland.
End of quote.

So CRASS hangs out with the Grail Guardians (or am I getting my Scottish
chapels mixed up)?

As to the technique question...I imagine the Egyptians in Giza would set the
altar stone the same way they likely set a lot of other things...build a
basin or box, fill with sand, set the stone, pull the plug and let the sand
out. Will settle the stone into place no problem. Experimental archaeology
suggests that this may have been the technique used to raise obelisks.

As to the floor -- how do we know the floor wasn't polished -- or, perhaps,
repolished -- after the altar stone was set?

AS for the motivation of the pyramid builders...pride in craftsmanship,
certainly. One other thought -- you're living in a society where Pharaoh is
considered a living god. Your god asks you to do something. You're going
to say no? Excluding schemers inside of the royal circle, of course (and
even they'll say "yes" while sharpening their knives to stab him -- or her
-- in the back).

One thing that should be pointed out, current theory holds that the
Eqyptians who built the pyramids weren't slaves. Slavery existed in Egypt,
to be sure, but it doesn't look like the builders were.
