End of quote.
Julianna,
You're not wrong. Ultimately, it's the lens that matters, in terms of
picture quality. In a former career, I used Nikons for about 20 years,
and plan to buy a D70 soon for digital. Would like to have the D2H, but
I'd like a Porsche, too. They were a bit slow off the mark in digital,
behind Canon, but seem to have caught up finally. I bought my daughter
a Canon A80 a year ago, and have used it quite a bit. For the money, it
has a lot of features, decent image quality for a 4 megapixel camera,
and costs less than $300. For better flexibility for the money, the D70
seems to be a good choice, when compared to the Canon equivalent, which
designation I can't remember right now.
http://www.dpreview.com is a good place to go for exhaustive reviews of the
latest cameras. In fact, there is more information there than most
people want to know, but they do the most important thing, which is to
directly compare image quality between competing models.
