John, I recommend one of the following:

Hopton Wood: the closest we get to Indiana
Portland: very pale when dried out; open texture; good weatherstone (not a
problem in Texas, maybe). Likely to be the English stone that is most
widely available in the US, if any are.
Clipsham or Ancaster Weatherbed: Honey colour or darker; lots of shell

If you tell me the size of the piece, and the area of England that your
client's grandparents came from that might make a difference. Reply
offline and I can give you the contact details of the suppliers.
