Have a look at the Fujifilm cameras. They have a couple which are not snap
cameras but are used in the same way as SLRs but with the extra facility of
being able to change the effective film speed and having white balance. They
can be used in manual modes with exposure and focus as well as fully
automatic holiday snap mode. The results are very close to good quality 35mm
and because of the previously mentioned facilities, can be used to determine
the best exposure for your 35mm slide camera. A further facility is the
ability to change the effective hardness of the film so you can zip it up or
soften it without recourse to computer graphic programs.
May I also recommend Corel Photo Paint for dealing with photographic images
as it is easier to use than Adobe Photoshop, particularly for the simple
tasks, but is capable of doing the same things as Photoshop and is
significantly cheaper. I judge the quality of a computer program by the
length of time it takes to learn how to use it as well as what it does and
how well it does it.
