text for sandblasting
Quoted text begins.Anyone out there have experience with formatting a Macintosh Illustrator 8
file so that it can be read by Autocad?

End of quote.
Gabe,
Autocad can easily import DXF files. Just triple check that your
measurements arrive correctly (and everything else , too). That's the tricky
part about file conversions in CAD programs. Illustrator should be able to
export your drawing as DXF.
To watch:
DXF is basically a text file, that contains your drawing translated into
text representing the math/geometry of your original. Weird things happen
during this process sometimes. DXF, for example, describes an ellipse as a
series of straight segments. If the number of segments is to little, you
will end up with a chamfered ellipse. You should be able to tell Illustrator
how many segments to use. Default is usually somewhere around 36 or so,
which is insufficient for detailed elements.
Whole science by itself.
When you export as DXF, choose a format that the monument makers can read.
Find out which version of Autocad they use and try to match in export
options.
Triple check the monument makers outcome!

TRIPLE CHECK THE MONUMENT MAKERS OUTCOME!!!
(Sorry, didn't mean to scare you, but could not help making this point any
other way. Painful memories!)
I hope this works
