Moving Mountains
Re: Quarries
Is it possible that the "attendee" at the conference was confused about
stone used for carving and the mining of minerals or fuel?
My husband has seen whole mountains removed in his thirty years as a coal
miner. I am not exaggerating! Whole Mountains! Stone quarries produce a
tiny amount of stone compared to the aggressive practices used for
industrial mining.
I have a friend who is a very active environmentalist, and I sometimes feel
that even walking in a forest, off a trail is a crime. (I guess it
is....but even the little forest animals step on plants and in the water!)
